Race Summary

This race was a moral saving race for me and my team.

The May 22 Busch race had everything that could go wrong- go wrong.

I drew the 37th starting position.
Someone blew an engine during practice and I slid on the oil ruining my brand new tire and hitting him slightly.  During the race I hit everything but the flagman--I'm usually able to miss those accidents up ahead better than that.  The 46 car...I just didn't see him soon enough and drilled him.
I was still running in seventh, I hit something on the track and spun out.  My fault also.
With lots to do at home, I had tried to tend to all those things on Sunday.

Monday night is when I realized how extensive the damage was to the frame etc.  Jimmy Smith (faithful crew man) was out of town and now I was in a panic.  Tuesday night Jon and I tried in vain to straighten the frame using our maple tree and chains.
Wednesday I contacted Randy Perry at Perry Lathrop's in Waterford and he offered to help me out.  We quickly were able to correct the frame back equal to my notes, and I was home by early evening.
Jon and Wayne replaced the nose and front bumper.  While I prepped the rest of the car.  I was so confident in the frame work I didn't even scale the car (OK, I didn't have time!)

At the track...we were good right off the trailer.  Jon, Wayne, Jimmy and Sean all ignored me well enough to get the car even better before feature time.

What could possibly be better for a driver with a wounded confidence level, than to have a great crew.  They have all stuck with me for a few years now, and 16 wins in last three seasons is due to their efforts.

By mid race Keith Desantis, Glenn Boss, Ernie Larose and myself made up the front 4.  There is about 120 wins amongst us.  Tough crowd.  After a tough week, I was in no mood to chance damage to my car.  I also would not be willing to knock anyone out of the way just to win a race.
Keith D would not make a mistake. I hounded him the best I could,  pulled along side him a couple of times, but came home in second.  Congrats to Keith and Debbie.  Another well earned win.

I'm very proud of my teams efforts this week.

look for us in victory lane real soon
