June 24th Race Report

A night that was highlighted by lowlights from the so called headline division, was also a night of many errors on my part.  (but we finished well anyway)

Turns out my tire pressures were all off a chunk due to me pegging my pressure gauge recently checking a truck tire.  That had us second guessing what we had run the last couple of weeks trying to remember when this occurred.

Next oops is when I changed the batteries in my scanner, it helps a bunch to put the earphone jack back in.  Never could get a hold of the end of the darn thing once strapped in.  That eventually led to me not sure about the restart at lap 19.  We have definitely done a few green - checker endings.  I thought this was going to be another one.  I lifted after taking the white flag!  I got passed, but at least I made my way back to third on the real last lap.

Another distraction seems I must have a different view on how a single file restart works.  I had to move up to keep a car from two spots behind me from going by me before the leader took off, and then the guy from three behind me is pulling along side me (on the inside) as the leader hits the gas.  I must have miss understood the rules as no penalty was enforced.

All that to end up with a 3rd place finish.  We moved from 4th to 2nd in points as the 36 and the 81 had lower than normal finishes.  Congrats to Ernie for surviving a long battle with Moose Douton and getting another win.  If I had an in car camera, most people would wonder how either of you finished. -1 inch gap between you two for many laps.

Looks as though I was right in thinking that Ernie Larose, Glenn Boss, and myself would all be factors in the points chase. The 36, 81, 80, and 19 will all be hanging in there waiting to join the battle if we make any mistakes.

Amazing how much better the racing can be when there is mutual respect amongst the racers.  Resuming a battle the next week if your car is off a bit, seems far better than wrecking each other to me.

Don't hold your breath waiting for an childish driver to be hanging out of another guys car in our division.

Our team seems to be gaining strength.  With Jimmy, Jon, Sean, Wayne helping most weeks, and recently Brad Moreau joining in.  Rumors that Everett may return from out of state.  I'm a lucky driver!

Look for some additions to our web site over the next few weeks.  Jon and I have some fun ideas.
