July 1 Race Results
After some experimenting with some chassis adjustments, I wasn't real happy with how the car felt during warm ups and the heat race. We were good, but I didn't feel like we would win with that set-up.
We had a pow wow (no, none of us is trying to create a new tribe) Jimmy, Jon, Sean, Wayne, and Brad...and made our decisions on what to do. In spite of being a bit tight, we adjusted the front suspension and then added cross weight back into the car. Plus all our other pre race stuff.
I also checked with Amanda in the stands...Amanda has been doing some testing in our car (see picture). If she smiles when standing in the seat...the car is good.
The big race...

Click to enlarge Click to enlargeWe started 15th. We would go 12 laps without a caution. We had weaved our way through traffic well (all the adjustments worked well) and traded positions back and forth with Scott Sundeen two or three times due to traffic.
The lap 12 caution was for an accident involving point leader Glenn Boss. Glenn would need to pit.
At lap 12 caution we were in 4th place, 02,79, 74,73,36 was the order. On the restart we slipped to 5th when we were forced high in turn one. Lap 15 we passed the 74 to get 4th. Lap 16 we passed the 36 while dogging the 79 car. On lap 17 the 79 pulled another block move on us that would allow the 36 to pull into 2nd.
For the remaining two laps the 79 would enter the turn low, push up high in the middle, chop down low on exit, go out wide on the straight. The guys that choose this line get away with it sometimes....sometimes not.
Scott Sundeen would continue on for the win. Scott and his team are a class act. Congrats are in order for besting us in traffic with an equal car to ours. We will be even better next week, will you guys???
Notes: With our 4th place finish, and Glenn Boss having troubles (21st), we edged into the point lead. 4th to first in two races! Busy shops this week as teams will prep for three races in three day period. Some people are not aware of some changes on our team (like -Where is Wendy??). Wendy handled many things for us in the past. Now that I am a single guy... Jon Chmura is handling these web site duties. Jimmy is handling many of Wendy's former duties at the track. Some adjustments, but our results are doing OK. Jimmy isn't quite as pretty....but maybe with some hair and make-up work????
